Gadsden Police arrest suspect in road rage shooting on Tuesday

The Gadsden Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection to a road rage shooting incident on Tuesday. Around 3:17 p.m., GPD officers responded to a shooting at the intersection of Rainbow Drive and Lakewood Drive.

At the scene, officers and medical personnel located a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Aid was provided and an investigation was initiated. Authorities say it was determined that a male suspect had fired at the victim from his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

The vehicle was identified as a Jeep truck. It was later spotted by the Rainbow City Police Department. The suspect, Tommy Junior Smith, was taken into custody during a traffic stop. At this time, Smith is charged with Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle and Assault in the First Degree.

GPD confirms the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
