The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a 15-year-old boy. TCSO deputies responded to the 28900 block of Road 168 near Farmersville around 10:30 a.m. on Monday for a report of a robbery and carjacking.
At the scene, the 71-year-old victim informed authorities that they were walking in the area when they were confronted by a teenage boy. The victim offered a ride. The teenager allegedly pulled out a hammer before taking the victim’s phone and car keys.
The teenager is accused of pushing the man to the ground and driving away in the victim’s vehicle. At some point, deputies found the stolen car near a canal bank with the teenager nearby. TCSO says the teen was uncooperative but taken into custody.
The teenager is charged with Robbery, Carjacking, Elder Abuse, and Resisting Arrest. It was later determined that the boy was a runaway from the Porterville area.
