December 2, 2023, Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 297 block of Marion Oaks Lane around 3:15 p.m. to investigate a possible motor vehicle accident. Responding officers located the vehicle behind the Marion Oaks Community Center in Ocala.

The male victim inside the vehicle was determined to be suffering from a gunshot injury(s). Medics transported the victim to an area hospital. When the initial report was released, the victim was listed in critical condition.

On December 2, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced that the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The victim’s identity is unknown at this time.

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives with the MCSO ask anyone with information regarding the fatal shooting to call 352-732-9111.
