The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio has announced the arrest of 39-year-old Zane Alexander Pelfrey in the slaying of his father. On November 24, 2023 at 9:38 PM, the Clermont County Communication Center took a 911 call from a resident in the 500 block of West Main Street in the Village of Batavia. Authorities say the caller reported the death of his elderly father.
Officers with the Village of Batavia Police Department responded to the scene where they began to investigate. The first officer reached the scene at 9:43 PM and located 60-year-old Dewayne Allan Pelfrey lying unresponsive inside the residence. Central Joint Fire/EMS responded to the scene before the victim was pronounced deceased.
On November 26, the Batavia Police Department requested assistance from the Clermont County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene for further investigation and processing. Following interviews with family members and witnesses, Dewayne Allan Pelfrey’s son, Zane Pelfrey, was identified as being directly responsible for the slaying, according to authorities.
Authorities say Zane Pelfrey was interviewed and was forthcoming with details regarding his involvement in Dewayne’s death. 39-year-old Zane Alexander Pelfrey was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder. He is being held in the Clermont County Jail without bond.
