The West Liberty Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting. WLPD reports that its officers and Fire/EMS responded to an unresponsive female around 11:40 p.m. on September 5, 2024.

The female victim was later pronounced deceased after suffering a single gunshot wound. The victim’s name is not being released at this time. The City of West Liberty has requested the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Authorities say this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact WLPD at 319-627-2223.
