The Peoria Police Department is investigating a double shooting that left one person dead. PPD reports that its officers responded to the 900 block of West Johnson Street for a Shot Spotter alert of six rounds around 8:22 p.m. on September 4, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the men was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
