The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a man who called authorities to say he had killed his wife. EPSO reports that its Communications Center received a 911 call from a man claiming to have killed his wife on September 1, 2024.

The caller abruptly disconnected. Authorities managed to trace the phone’s location to the vicinity of Walsen Road in unincorporated El Paso County. EPSO says another call was received reporting a body had been dumped near the 600 block of Walsen Road.

Deputies responded to the area where they found a deceased woman. Authorities have identified the victim as 54-year-old Jian Chan who was married to the suspect Stephen Chan. Stephen is currently charged with First Degree Murder and Kidnapping.
