Grand Junction Police arrest 26-year-old woman in stabbing near Science Park

The Grand Junction Police Department has announced the arrest of a woman in connection to a stabbing in late August. Around 6:10 a.m. on August 28, 2024, GJPD says the Regional Communications Center received a report of a stabbing in the area of Science Park near Santa Clara Avenue and Lamp Lite Road.

At the scene, officers found an adult female victim suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment. GJPD says the suspect, 26-year-old Ashley Nicoson, fled the scene but was later identified.

Around 5:30 a.m. on September 2, 2024, 911 dispatchers received a report confirming Nicoson was back in the area of the crime scene. Officers located and took the suspect into custody.

Nicoson has been remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility on charges of 1st Degree Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Felony Menacing, and Tampering with Evidence.
