Spokane Police arrest suspect in drive-by shooting

The Spokane Police Department has taken a suspect into custody in a drive-by shooting on August 26. SPD reports that its officers responded to the area of 100 West Sinto for a reported shooting just after midnight on August 26, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers were informed that an unknown male had pointed a handgun at multiple people in the parking lot. The man allegedly fired a shot into the front grill of an occupied vehicle.

The suspect and several others drove away from the scene. SPD says a shell casing was recovered from near the front of the vehicle that was struck. It is believed that the shooting occurred following an argument inside a local business.

Officers received cell phone video of the incident and used it to identify the involved suspects. Authorities arrested 35-year-old Joshua D. Cruz for Drive by Shooting, 1st Degree Assault, and 2nd Degree Malicious Mischief.
