A 33-year-old Prince George’s County man has been arrested for allegedly kicking a dog to death. 33-year-old Adriano Demorais was arrested and arraigned on Tuesday. He is charged with Felony Cruelty to Animals in connection to an incident on February 16, 2024.
Authorities say that Demorais will face a maximum sentence of five years in prison if convicted. The government’s evidence alleges that Demorais worked for District Dogs. On February 16, 2024, he was allegedly working overnight at the Navy Yard location.
Authorities say he was feeding dogs in the early morning when a 5-month-old Mountain Cur/German Shephard dog, Bronny, was near his feat. Demorais is accused of forcefully kicking the dog on the left side of its stomach.
Bronny briefly circled around the room before collapsing. The dog was transported to a vet facility where it passed away. Authorities claim Demorais admitted to striking the dog and claimed he did so because the dog was too energetic.
A necropsy report revealed that Bronny died due to blunt abdominal trauma and hemorrhagic shock.
