The Beaumont Police Department was involved in an officer-involved shooting with an individual armed with a chainsaw. BPD reports that its officers responded to a residence in the 1800 block of Harriot in reference to a disturbance around 8:20 p.m. on August 24, 2024.

Once officers reached the scene, they began addressing the individual involved in the disturbance. Authorities say another individual approached from behind a residence armed with a chainsaw.

The armed individual allegedly advanced towards officers leading to an officer-involved shooting. Beaumont EMS reached the scene and pronounced the individual deceased. Officers were not injured during the incident.

The shooting is being investigate by the Texas Rangers, BPD’s Persons Detectives, Internal Affairs, and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
