Billings Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of North 17^th Street On November 1, 2023, to investigate a weapons complaint. Upon arrival at the scene, officers learned that individuals in a vehicle fired a “large volley of shots” at the residence.

Officers forced entry into the residence, where they found two male victims, a 1-year-old and 31-year-old. Medics transported the 1-year-old victim to an area hospital. Staff later pronounced the victim deceased.

The vehicle involved in the shooting was located in the 300 block of South 28^th Street. Negotiators and officers from the Billings Police Office, SWAT, and YCSO SRT removed 10 individuals from the residence without incident. Another residence, believed to be linked to the shooting, on the same block was also evacuated. Individuals from both residences were detained and turned over to the Investigation Division.

On December 1, 2023, Billings Police Department apprehended and charged two subjects in connection to the double homicide. Jane Knowshisgun and Myron Goesahead have been remanded at Yellowstone County Detention Facility on two counts of deliberate homicide.
