The Salem Police Department reports that its Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a stabbing that occurred at the Wallace Marine Park in West Salem in late July. Around 2:15 a.m. on July 27, SPD patrol officers responded to a call about a stabbing victim in the south end of the park.

At the scene, officers found a young adult suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim, 19-year-old Riley John Adams, was transported to Salem Health where he remained until he passed away on August 19, 2024.
