Update 3 – JPD has confirmed that a second suspect has been taken into custody. The suspect is a juvenile so their name will not be released at this time.

Update 2 – The Jacksonville Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a shooting on August 17, 2024. JPD reports that the victim has been identified as 29-year-old Clara Deane Wilson of Jacksonville.

On August 22, 2024, authorities took one suspect into custody. The suspect is a juvenile so authorities will not disclose their identity. Additional arrests are expected.

Original – One person is dead following a fatal shooting in Jacksonville, Texas on Saturday. The Jacksonville Police Department reports that it received a call about a shooting in the 400 block of Gillespie Avenue around 2:52 hours on August 17.

JPD officers and Fire/EMS personnel responded to the scene where they found a 29-year-old woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

JPD confirms the victim has been identified, but her identity is not being released at this time. JPD and the Texas Rangers will be investigating the shooting.
