The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has announced the arrest of two juveniles in connection to a September 2023 homicide in Augusta. KBI says it investigated the murder of 93-year-old Joanne R. Johnson with assistance from the Augusta Department of Public Safety and the FBI.

On August 15, 2024, two 14-year-old females from Augusta were arrested for First-Degree Murder in the case. KBI says Johnson was found murdered in her home on September 3, 2024.

The teens are being held at separate juvenile detention centers and formal charges are pending.
