The Durham Police Department has arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of Jeremiah Williams in November 2023. DPD reports that 25-year-old Tyshawn Franks was arrested and charged in the fatal shooting.

Around 6:45 p.m. on November 13, 2023, officers responded to a Shot Spotter alert in the 1300 block of Wabash Street. At the scene, officers found 19-year-old Williams suffering from a gunshot wound near the intersection of Wabash Street and Dayton Street.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. On August 8, 2024, investigators charged Franks with First Degree Murder. Franks was taken into custody on August 12, 2024 and is currently being held in the Durham County Jail with no bond.
