A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection to an armed carjacking early Wednesday morning. The Hattiesburg Police Department reports that police responded to an armed carjacking in the 200 block of Tatum Road around 9:30 a.m. on August 14, 2024.
At the scene, officers were informed that an unknown black male approached the victim and pointed a firearm in his direction. The suspect demanded the victim exit his vehicle. The victim complied before the suspect fled in his vehicle.
HPD confirms no injuries were reported. Around 12 p.m. on Wednesday, officers found the vehicle abandoned in the 300 block of Lurty Avenue. A short time later, a 16-year-old male suspect was located and taken into custody for questioning.
The juvenile has been charged as an adult with one count of Armed Carjacking and booked into the Forrest County Jail.
