The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has announced charges in connection to a fatal shooting in Moreno Valley. Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the 24000 block of Bostwick Drive around 10:36 p.m. on August 12 for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

At the scene, responding deputies found 30-year-old Gilbert Ramirez suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit took control of the investigation.

CHU investigators say they identified the sole suspect as 31-year-old Joe Miramontes Jr. of Moreno Valley. Miramontes allegedly fled the scene before deputies arrived. An arrest warrant has been obtained.
