The Sacramento Police Department is currently investigating a double shooting that killed one person. SPD reports that its officers responded to the 7800 block of La Riviera Drive for a reported shooting around 5 p.m. on August 12, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found an adult male victim suffering from one life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A second male victim was found with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The second victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene to assume control of the investigation.

Officers located and detained two persons of interest. They will be interviewed by detectives. No other details are available at this time.
