The Tallahassee Police Department has announced the arrest of one individual in connection to a shooting at a residence in the 1300 block of Hernando Drive. TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit investigated the matter.

Investigators say it was determined that 41-year-old Jacob Smith was sitting next to another man inside the home when he became agitated and shot him. Following the shooting, Smith fled from the residence.

The victim succumbed to his injuries. Several witnesses were inside the residence when the shooting occurred. Detectives say they quickly identified Smith as the shooter. A warrant was obtained charging Smith with Second-Degree Murder.

Smith was found near High Road and taken into custody.
