The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double shooting that claimed the lives of a man and a woman. At this time, authorities believe they are dealing with a murder-suicide. SCSO received a 911 call about two unresponsive individuals in the backyard at 6425 East Twp. Road 106 in Republic.

At the scene, authorities found a man and woman lying in the backyard. Both were deceased from gunshot wounds. SCSO says the County Coroner’s Office pronounced 52-year-old Erik L. Werling and 53-year-old Dawn C. Werling deceased at the scene.

Authorities say it appears one victim suffered a gunshot wound and the other suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
