The Sanford Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred at building 16 of Barewood Lane. SPD reports that its officers responded to the aforementioned location for a shooting around 7:30 a.m. on August 11, 2024.

At the scene, officers found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. SPD believes the suspect, Santana Sutton, arrived at the apartment of his ex-girlfriend, Lakechia Jackson. An altercation began outside and shots were fired.

Jackson and James William were transported to an area hospital. SPD says Sutton has a prior warrant for his arrest for an unrelated incident. SPD investigators are searching for Sutton at this time.
