The Rainbow City Police Department and St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office have released a joint statement after a missing St. Clair County man was found deceased in the Canoe Creek area.

RCPD officers received information that a missing man was potentially last seen in the area of Rainbow Drive and Riddles Bend Road around 3:50 p.m. on August 9, 2024. RCPD officers and members of the Rainbow City Fire Department responded to check the waterway and surrounding area.

The Etowah County Dive Team assisted in the search of the waterway. On Saturday morning, several agencies responded to the area to resume the search. Around 12:49 p.m., human remains were found down the river from the initial search area.

Authorities believe the remains belong to Roger Dale Whisman of Ashville, Alabama.
