A suspect is behind bars after a vehicle hijacking in Bibb County, Georgia. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office reports that its deputies responded to a call in the 1600 block of Anthony Road where an armed vehicle hijacking occurred around 2 a.m. on August 8, 2024.
BCSO says a male was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by someone with a mask and a firearm. The armed suspect demanded the vehicle and forced the victim to exit. The suspect fled in the vehicle.
No one was injured during the encounter. Authorities spotted the vehicle in the 3400 block of Napier Avenue a short time later. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspect fled leading a pursuit.
Following a brief pursuit, the suspect was apprehended. BCSO has identified the suspect as 22-year-old Christopher Dewayne Bonner of Macon. Bonner was booked into the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on charges of Aggravated Assault, Theft by Taking Auto, and Felony Theft by Taking.
Bond has been denied.
