The Columbus Police Department has arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Earkus Porter Jr.. CPD reports that 19-year-old Marquis Poole was taken into custody on August 7, 2024.

Poole is charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. The charges stem from the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Porter Jr. in the 700 block of Parkview Drive around 1:41 a.m. on February 25, 2024.

Responding officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Coroner Buddy Bryan pronounced the victim deceased at 2:21 a.m. CPD’s Violent Crimes Unit is leading the murder investigation.
