Raleigh Police arrest stabbing victim in shooting case on Tuesday

The Raleigh Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to a shooting that occurred on Tuesday morning. RPD reports that officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the intersection of Chavis Way and East Lenior Street around 7:04 a.m. on August 6, 2024.

At the scene, responding officers found 21-year-old Elijah Prescott Kimbeni suffering from stab wounds. Kimbeni was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No one is in custody in connection to the stabbing.

During the investigation, RPD says it determined that Kimbeni was the suspect in a shooting that occurred around 1:01 a.m. near the intersection of Davie Street and Blount Street. An adult male victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police believe the shooting occurred in the 300 block of Fayetteville Street and the victim fled to Davie and Blount Street.

Kimbeni has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury.
