The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting. TBI reports that its special agents are investigating the circumstances leading up to an officer-involved shooting involving the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday evening.
TBI says the preliminary information suggests that deputies encountered a robbery suspect from Alabama in a parking lot in the 4700 block of Highway 128 South in Savannah. Deputies approached the vehicle occupied by 33-year-old Jonathan Schutte.
It is alleged Schutte exited his vehicle and fired his weapon at deputies. Deputies returned fire leading to Schutte being fatally shot. No officers or deputies were injured during the incident.
TBI reports that Jonathan Schutte was from Ardmore, Alabama. No other details are available at this time.
