Naples, Florida – The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has announced that a 69-year-old woman has been sentenced to prison for exploiting an elderly Naples couple for more than $100,000 in the form of jewelry, cash, and a new car.
On Friday, Lynn Marie Keller was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of probation with special conditions. Keller has also been ordered to pay $112,000 in restitution. Keller was found guilty of nine counts of exploitation of the elderly following a weeklong trial.
The incidents were reported in 2019. CCSO says it learned that jewelry, a vehicle, and personal bank documents had been stolen from the couple. The victims included an 81-year-old woman under crisis care by hospice.
Her 87-year-old husband was living in a skilled nursing facility. Detectives alleged that Keller had forged the female victim’s name on a new Kia Sorrento transferring the title to herself as a “gift” while the victim was in a coma and dying.
Keller also allegedly transferred funds from the couple’s account to her own and forged checks in their names. When the female victim passed away, Keller allegedly took many items from the couple’s home and fled the area.
She also asked a friend of the victim not to tell the son that his mother had passed. Keller was arrested in Monroe County in 2021.
