The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office reports that 46-year-old Joseph Colin Scribner has been arrested on a charge of Murder. On Thursday, SCSO deputies responded to the 34000 block of Side Bottom Road in Shingletown for a gunshot victim.

At the scene, SCSO says its deputies found a deceased female inside a residence with an apparent gunshot wound. Scribner was contacted at the scene. Authorities claim Scribner admitted to being present when the incident occurred.

SCSO’s Major Crimes Unit assumed control of the investigation. Detectives say Scribner was interviewed and arrested. He has been booked into the Shasta County Jail on a charge of Murder. Scribner is being held on a $1 million bail.

The victim’s name is not being released at this time.
