A man is behind bars following the recovery of a stolen vehicle. The Seattle Police Department reports that a man was arrested when a stolen vehicle was recovered and a stolen firearm was retrieved on Thursday night.
Around 9:46 p.m. on June 20, 2024, officers were informed that a vehicle in their area had been reported stolen by the Tukwila Police Department. Officers found the vehicle and carried out a high-risk traffic stop near the 2400 block of Southwest Webster Street.
SPD says the suspect tried to flee but the vehicle stalled. The suspect was apprehended when he exited the driver’s side door. Officers retrieved the stolen vehicle as well as stolen bank cards.
SPD says an empty holster was recovered from the suspect and a loaded, stolen firearm was found inside the vehicle. The 39-year-old suspect was taken to the King County Jail where he was booked on charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Possession of Stolen Property.
SPD reports that the man is a convicted felon preventing him from possessing any firearm. Additional charges will be considered. General Investigations Unit detectives have been assigned to the case.
