An officer with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department arrested 38-year-old William Thomas Kidd during a traffic stop on December 30, 2023.

Deputy N. Estes deployed K9 Rocko during the traffic stop to sniff around the vehicle. Rocko alerted to narcotics being inside Kidd’s vehicle.

A search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine (1.7 grams) stored inside a folded dollar and a 9mm pistol. Kidd had 2022 forgery and 2017 financial card theft convictions.

William Thomas Kidd was remanded to the Halifax County Detention Center on possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm. Kidd’s bond was set at $25,000. A court date is scheduled for January 25, 2024.
