38-year-old Alexandria woman arrested in Cypress Street fatal shooting of 12-year-old girl

Update 2 – Alexandria Police say 32-year-old Latraykus May has turned himself in. May was wanted in connection to a homicide on Cypress Street. He is charged with Second Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.

Update – Alexandria Police say they’re searching for two suspects in connection to the fatal shooting on Cypress Street. APD is searching for Latraykus May and Deroyce May II.

Original – The Alexandria Police Department has announced an arrest in connection to a homicide on Cypress Street on September 14. APD reports that 38-year-old Kayla Wooten was arrested in connection to the homicide.

Wooten is charged with Second-Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. At this time, the investigation is ongoing. Around 8:45 a.m. on September 14, APD officers responded to a shooting in the 2900 block of Cypress Street.

At the scene, officers found a 12-year-old girl deceased from a gunshot wound. Another person suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
