The Salinas Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday. According to SPD, Salinas Police Officers responded to a Shot Spotter alert at the intersection of Garner Avenue and Atlantic Avenue around 8:40 p.m. on December 30, 2023.

While police were traveling to the scene, multiple witnesses called 911 to report a shooting victim at the scene. Upon arrival, police found 33-year-old Jesus Garcia suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim succumbed to his injuries.
