San Mateo Police Department responded to the 500 block of E. Bellevue Avenue on December 1, 2023, at 10:10 p.m. to investigate a report of shots fired. During a canvas of the area, officers located an adult male sitting in a vehicle parked on San Mateo High School grounds. The vehicle was reported stolen out of San Francisco five hours earlier.

A search of the stolen vehicle revealed a stolen firearm in the trunk. Another stolen firearm inside a gun box, a damaged gun lock, life ammunition, and spent bullet casings were located outside the vehicle.

Witnesses reported seeing bicyclists in the area when the shots were fired. Officers believed the suspect, identified as Cenneth Redard, interacted with the bicyclists and for unknown reasons fired several shots. No injuries were reported.

Redard had a prior felony conviction(s). Officers charged Redard with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, negligently/willfully discharging a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm on school grounds, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Redard was remanded to the San Mateo County Jail.
