A 20-year-old Portland resident is facing multiple charges following a shooting in downtown Portland on Saturday. The Portland Police Bureau reports that a Sergeant was at Southwest 14th Avenue and Southwest Taylor Street around 12:37 a.m. on June 22, 2024.
The Portland Police Sergeant was flagged down by a group on the corner. She found a man injured on the leg and learned that the 28-year-old male victim had been shot. Two suspects were spotted running from the scene.
The suspects are described as a male and a female. The Sergeant broadcast the information on the radio. An officer spotted the suspect in the area of Southwest 19th Avenue and West Burnside Street approximately four minutes later.
The female suspect was detained. An adult male was detained but was later cleared and released. The victim was taken to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. Officers learned that two suspects had robbed three victims at gunpoint.
The suspect assaulted a 35-year-old female victim by hitting her in the head with the pistol and shot a man in the leg. A 46-year-old male victim suffered a scrape to the neck. 20-year-old Jayda Z. Wise, who is also known as Demarion Z. Wise, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on three counts of Robbery in the First Degree and one count of Assault in the First Degree.
