Lexington Police have announced the arrest of one person in connection to a shooting that occurred on Hillcrest Avenue on June 28. Authorities say 20-year-old Trent Watkins has been charged with one count of Assault 2nd Degree and six counts of Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.

Watkins has been booked into the Fayette County Detention Center where he remains. Lexington Police say officers responded to the area of Hillcrest Avenue and Highland Drive for a report of shots fired just before 1:30 a.m. on June 28, 2024.

Responding officers found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No other details are available at this time.
