An 18-year-old is behind bars following a nonfatal shooting at the East Cypress Avenue Jack. Trevon Gage Evanoff of Redding, California, has been booked into the Shasta County Jail for gross negligent discharge of a firearm in a public area. Evanoff is also facing multiple firearm-related charges.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on March 21, 2024, officers with the Redding Police Department were dispatched to 800 East Cypress Avenue, a Jack in the Box, to investigate a shooting. A preliminary investigation revealed a verbal dispute broke out between Evanoff and the occupants of a separate vehicle. Evanoff exited his vehicle and confronted the occupants of the other vehicle. Evanoff shot at the vehicle as it was driving away. Before leaving the scene, Evanoff paid for his order and apologized to the employees. No one was injured in the incident.
About 12 hours later, officers detained Evanoff and searched his vehicle. A recovered semi-automatic pistol had its serial numbers removed. Acting on a warrant, Evanoff’s property in the 5800 block of Bell Road was searched by SWAT.
