The DC Metropolitan Police has announced the arrest of a juvenile in connection to a Northwest Homicide. According to a news release from the DC Metropolitan Police Department, the Homicide Branch announced the arrest of a juvenile in an October 2023 shooting.

On December 5, 2023, Fairfax County Police apprehended 15-year-old Ashton Inabinet of Alexandria, Virginia. Inabinet was wanted in the death of 24-year-old Diamonte Lewis of Southeast DC.

Authorities say Inabinet waived his right to an extradition hearing and was transported to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch. He will be charged as an adult with Second Degree Murder while Armed.

Third District officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 900 block of U Street NW around 3:38 AM on October 21, 2023. At the scene, officers found Lewis who was suffering from gunshot wound injuries. Lewis passed away at the scene.
