Joondalup detectives have charged a man with seven offences related to an incident in Butler on Monday, 13 November 2023. According to the Western Australia Police Force, a male entered a home on Marchwood Boulevard while in possession of a shotgun around 7.30am. The male allegedly discharged the firearm through a front window at approximately 8.30am before police were called.
Multiple units responded to the residence a short time later. It is alleged that the male discharged the firearm again inside the residence around 9.30am. A 27-year-old man was arrested. During a search of the home, police seized a shotgun and ammunition. The Quinns Rock man has been charged with the following:
- Discharged a firearm to the danger of, or in a manner to cause fear to, the public or any person (two counts).
- Unlicensed person possess firearm/ammunition (two counts).
- Possession of stolen or unlawfully obtained property.
- Aggravated home burglary and commit.
- Unlawful act or omission with intent to harm (endangering life, health or safety of any person).
The man in question is set to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Two occupants of the home were uninjured. The 27-year-old man, who was arrested, is not known to the occupants.
