Virginia Beach Police arrest suspect in fatal shooting of Lequan Cherry

Virginia Beach, Virginia – The Virginia Beach Police Department has announced an arrest in a recent homicide. According to VBPD, authorities responded to multiple calls of a shooting at a business in the 5400 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard around 12:03 p.m. on December 30, 2024.

Authorities found 26-year-old Lequan Cherry of Norfolk deceased at the scene. Detectives broadcast a detailed description of the suspect and suspect vehicle.

A Norfolk Police Department officer located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. VBPD says the vehicle fled leading to a brief pursuit into Virginia Beach.

The vehicle eventually stopped and 22-year-old Jeremiah Quinones was taken into custody less than an hour after the initial call.

Quinones was arrested and charged with First-Degree Murder, Malicious Wounding, and two counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
