Los Lunas, New Mexico – The Valencia County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a double homicide that occurred on December 18, 2024. According to VCSO, 61-year-old Los Lunas resident John Miramontes called 911 to report that he had been shot at 310 El Cerro Loop.
VCSO says deputies made contact with Mr. Miramontes at the location and rendered aid. Mr. Miramontes reportedly told deputies that another man named George had also been shot at the home.
According to VCSO, Miramontes said a woman named Amy was the person who had shot him. Authorities say Miramontes was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office says law enforcement forced entry into the home at 310 El Cerro Loop and found 64-year-old George Yzquierdo deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. Police say a woman was found hiding in a bathroom.
Authorities identified the woman as 41-year-old Amy Pendleton of Los Lunas. VCSO claims Pendleton was on probation and in violation for absconding to the terms of her release. Pendleton was booked into the Valencia County Detention Center just before 11:20 p.m.
