According to a Upland Police Department social media post, members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department were serving a search warrant in the 1500 block of North Fairwood Way around 3:25 PM on November 11, 2023. While serving the warrant, authorities say shots were fired at deputies from within the residence. Officers with the Upland Police Department responded and additional shots were fired from inside the residence.
Police say the suspect barricaded inside his home. After several hours, police say the residence caught fire. When the suspect emerged, a deputy-involved shooting occurred. The Upland Police Department says no officers or deputies were injured in the altercation. The immediate area remains closed for further investigation.
Police say there is no threat to the public. Police ask individuals to avoid the area unless they live there.
