The Union County Sheriff’s office says it is conducting an investigation into a residential explosion that occurred early this morning.

According to authorities, first responders have been working throughout the day to assist the couple who lived in the Weddington home and to determine the cause of the incident.

UCSO says it had received information that the couple is in stable condition and is receiving appropriate medical care.
