According to a social media post from the Tulsa Police Department, a man was fatally shot during an attempted robbery and one suspect is in custody. On November 19, 2023 around 6 PM, officers were dispatched to a bank at 31st and Mingo for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim with gunshot wounds. The victim died from his injuries on the way to the hospital and was later identified as Mikaleb Fitzgerald.
Detectives say Fitzgerald and a woman were at a strip mall in the area when they were approached by two males. The two male suspects later met with Fitzgerald and the woman again. The suspects pulled a gun on them and attempted to rob them. During the robbery attempt, one suspect shot Fitzgerald before the suspects fled the scene.
The woman was not injured. During the investigation, detectives identified 24-year-old Deandre Marsalis as the suspected shooter. Marsalis was taken into custody this afternoon and arrested for 1st degree murder. Detectives are working to identify and apprehend the second suspect.
