Losing a loved one is one of life’s most difficult events. When a child disappears, the parents will appear on television and in newspapers. They’ll receive sympathy from people from around the world but sometimes things aren’t as they appear. That sympathy can easily transform into hatred and anger.
Nicole Lynn Bryner was born on February 20, 1979 and lived with her mother, Melody Thomas Childs, in an apartment on Sarah Street in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On the 11th of March of 1982, Melody took her daughter to the nearby Giant Eagle Supermarket. They had been there numerous times but something was different about that day.
Once inside, Nicole told her mother repeatedly that she wanted cookies and she wasn’t going to leave without them. Melody made a stop at the meat counter. When she looked at something on the counter and turned around, her daughter had gone missing. Melody wasn’t too worried since she thought her daughter had gone for cookies.
Things took a frightening turn when Melody was unable to find Nicole in the cookie aisle. Authorities would be alerted but Nicole would never be found. Police would begin searching for a kidnapper but that would lead nowhere. Melody Childs and her boyfriend, Timothy Widman, would become suspects.
Some argue that Nicole was never at the Giant Eagle Supermarket on the day of her alleged disappearance. In this video, N’ Cuffs will detail the disappearance of Nicole Bryner, the murder confession, and the aftermath.
