According to a social media post by the Spokane Valley Police Department, deputies responded to the 15600 block of East 4th Street for reports of a fight involving a knife on November 10 around 10:15 PM. Witnesses said multiple individuals were involved and one person was on the ground not moving. Upon arrival, deputies contacted two adult male victims.
One had multiple gaping wounds including one to the back of his head. The second victim had several lacerations on his hands. One victim was taken to the hospital while the other victim declined and said he would seek further treatment on his own. A K9 unit and UAS were deployed to locate the suspect or suspects. The K9 led deputies to the front of an apartment building where the suspects were found inside one of the apartments.
It is alleged that 21-year-old Sebastian R. Nyffler got into an altercation with one of the victims. After the altercation was deescalated, they separated. A short time later, the victim was outside when they noticed Nyffler with a weapon described as a sword. They settled their differences and shook hands. A female suspect, 21-year-old Elizabeth M. Lorrekovich, allegedly began to verbally incite the situation.
This reportedly continued until Nyffler approached the victim and swung the weapon like a baseball bat. The victim was struck multiple times in the hands, arms, lower back, and head. The assault continued even when the victim was on the ground. The second victim jumped into the fray and took the sword away from Nyffler. That victim suffered cuts to his hands in the process.
Nyffler and Lorrekovich were booked into the Spokane County Jail for 1st-degree Assault and 2nd-degree Assault.
