Suspect arrested after ramming Massachusetts State Police cruiser in Boston

The Massachusetts State Police have announced the arrest of a suspect accused of ramming an MSP cruiser in Boston on December 6. According to MSP, members of the Troop H Community Action Team deployed a Star Chase tracking device on a vehicle that failed to stop in Boston around 8 p.m. on Friday.

Police say the Star Chase technology is being piloted by MSP with the goal of de-escalating and avoiding dangerous pursuits. The suspect’s vehicle was reportedly located on Boston’s Thwing Street which is a dead end near the Jackson Square Orange Line Station.

MSP says troopers approached the vehicle in a cruiser before the suspect rammed the cruiser several times. The suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot. MSP says the suspect was apprehended on December 10, 2024.

MSP has identified the suspect as 44-year-old Keion Rowell of Boston. Authorities say trafficking weight narcotic evidence was located at the scene.

Rowell is facing numerous charges, including Trafficking in Cocaine, Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Driving with a Suspended License, and Leaving the Scene of a Crash Causing Personal Injury.
