Starke County Sheriff’s Office arrests son after discovery of deceased father

The Starke County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a suspect on a charge of murder. According to SCSO, deputies responded to the 2600 block of Donna Street in North Judson around 6:30 p.m. on December 6, 2024 in reference to a welfare check on a man who had not been heard from since December 3.

SCSO says deputies discovered a heavy gas odor emitting from inside the residence. Once deputies entered the residence, they found a deceased male who was later identified as Landin Minix, according to police.

Detectives say they managed to identify a person of interest, Timothy Minix, who was the victim’s son. On December 7, 2024, authorities responded to the 4500 block of Bowen Street in Leiters Ford in an attempt to apprehend the suspect.

SCSO says officers received acknowledgment that the suspect was in the bathroom. Strategic Response Team members entered the bathroom and took Timothy Minix into custody without incident.

Minix was transported to the Starke County Justice Center where he was interviewed by detectives. Minix has been booked on a preliminary charge of Murder. Authorities say formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
