Sanford, Florida – The Sanford Police Department said in a media statement that it is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the parking lot of 1501 Rinehart Road on Tuesday evening.

According to SPD, officers responded to the aforementioned location for reports of a shooting around 8 p.m. on December 17, 2024. SPD says officers found a man who had been shot.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to police. SPD has identified the victim as Terance Darnell Pope.

SPD has not provided any suspect information or said what led up to the fatal shooting.

Investigators are asking anyone who saw anything or anyone with information to contact the Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call SPD or the Crime Line at 800-423-TIPS.
