Saint Paul, Minnesota – The Saint Paul Police Department has announced the arrest of a couple following the death of their one and a half year old child.

According to an SPPD statement, 38-year-old Jeffrey Weidell and 31-year-old Jasmine Ryan have been arrested on suspicion of 2nd Degree Manslaughter.

Police say the child was found unresponsive just after 1:30 p.m. on Christmas Day at a residence in the 1000 block of 5th Street E.

The child was transported to Regions Hospital where they were pronounced deceased. SPPD says the preliminary information indicates that narcotics may have played a role in the child’s death.
